American Ethos

Libertas Virtute Perennis – Liberty everlasting because of virtue

American Ethos is a standard of expectation, a personal code of self-mastery, to be observed with soberness in the preservation of unalienable natural rights: such rights being endowed by an omnipotent Creator. Inspired by Judeo-Christian principles, this Ethos can qualify the development of a virtuous character, and as a practicing people, lead to a more dedicated citizenry in defending liberty. As agents unto themselves, sincere Americans must dare to stand fast in that liberty where with God has made them free. Therefore, let every American citizen ratify their conviction with a solemn oath to courageously live by this American Ethos, so that “We the People” may justify the blessings of personal liberty, and through divine providence, secure an enduring constitutional republic “For the people, by the people, of the people.”

 –

Principle 1: [ Religious ] An American acknowledges and worships a supreme creator, God the Eternal Father, He who affirms divine agency as the fundamental attribute of liberty. As a religious people, we adhere to sacred doctrines of family, marriage, gender identity, and the sanctity of life: these being ordained of God; doctrines that must be ascribed to in order to perpetuate a functional and moral society. A true American recognizes that all blessings flow from heaven, and that to obtain blessings from God, obedience to God’s Law is requisite to secure lasting liberty. These truths are self-evident to a righteous people–to be defended with all diligence.

Principle 2: [ Noble ] An American is of noble character, individual character being indispensable in the preservation of a free, equitable, and prosperous nation. Accordingly, as parents and guardians of liberty, we rear children to purposefully choose principles of righteousness. Having done so, generations of unyielding Americans face daily challenges with boldness, constraining competitive ambition and desire to their proper utility. Thus, as a principled people, we seek to live in consummate moral uprightness before God, our fellow man, and constitutional law–so long as law is justly practiced, by adhering to, and in the free exercise of self-governance.

Principle 3: [ Loyal ] An American regards loyalty to self, family, and country as the essential substance of liberty. Through a spirit of mutual concern and a desire to faithfully serve others, a true American commits to preserve and uphold the Constitution to maintain vital liberties. We believe that limited federal governance and honorable representation can only be sustained by the ideals of civic virtue. Self-aware of this defensible principle, we pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America as a title of liberty, and to the Constitutional Republic for which it stands: a symbol of sovereignty, protection, and dignity; one nation under God.

Principle 4: [ Obedient ] An American demonstrates an unwearied commitment to personal discipline and accountability. We willfully submit to inspired parents, serve religious, civic, or military leaders as per duty, and comply to constitutional government when righteously administered. Obliged through virtuous living and self-control, a true American seeks to obtain blessings from heaven through impeccable conduct–nothing less being reasonable. Thus, through unwavering obedience and by living correct principles, an American becomes an emissary of peace and goodness wherever we stand.

Principle 5: [ Dependable ] An American demonstrates unfailing dependability to fulfill duties, oaths, and sacred covenants. Faced with imminent danger, extreme hardship, or in times of abundance; an American’s word is his bond! Self-confident of when to lead, and when to follow, the word ‘compromise’ has no place in the American vocabulary; rather, we employ ‘consensus’ coupled with self-discipline to obtain meaningful results from worthy endeavors. Hence, a true American is an advocate for impartial government requiring every citizen to cultivate a strong sense of personal virtue as the rightful master of representative government.

Principle 6: [ Honest ] An American is always found to be reputable in word and deed. Motivated by self-respect, integrity governs action. We are to be irreproachable in our dealings with our fellow man. That being the case, the characteristics that establish our personal identity is contingent upon our ability to be trusted in all things. Therefore, a true American is ever to be found devoid of deceit, hypocrisy, and partisan schemes–these being antithetical to principled citizenship and governance. Therefore, honesty must be practiced in the home of every American to maintain incorruptible liberties; presently, and for yet unborn posterity.

Principle 7: [ Compassionate ] An American is benevolent, presiding within family, occupation, or public service with mercy and justice. As disciples of kindness, principles of self-sacrifice and charity guide individual decisions as we consider the welfare of others with patience and long suffering. A true American is continually vigilant in the succor of the helpless and the less fortunate. By living principles of compassion, a true American recognizes that temporal increase is to be used for the benefit and security of mankind; however, it is only through individual choice that service and property is rendered–never by force or coercive exploits of government.

Principle 8: [ Respectful ] An American is mannerly and eager to please. We esteem others as ourselves in reverence to Gods plan of happiness, allowing others to worship and act upon their own beliefs without prejudice in pursuit of self-interest. Whilst tolerant of the beliefs of others, it should be understood that it is through genuine actions of an individual that respect and dignity is earned, never assumed nor given by a sense of entitlement! Consequently, let it ever be demonstrated, an American believes it is a natural right to uphold virtuous principles of moral law, defending truth and right unremittingly against error.

Principle 9: [ Industrious ] An American strives unceasingly for the exceptional in life through the practice of being industrious. We believe it is a God-given privilege to realize increase through the fundamental principle of self-determination. By means of free-market economy principles, temporal prosperity can be obtained, increase having been derived through personal intellect, diligence, and honesty; all actions being conducted under God’s watchful eye. Being optimists by disposition, even amidst times of uncertainty, an American readily engages in productive and reputable activities. Idleness is shunned: work being established as the principle of plenty.

Principle 10: [ Frugal ] An American is frugal with regard to capital, sustenance, and resources. As an independence-minded people, we strive to achieve self-reliance through uncommon use of personal discipline. It should be said of an American in terms of fiscal responsibility: thrift manages economic ventures, lavishness and excess ruled by temperance, and charitable acts espoused in opposition to greed. In consequence, provident living is efficaciously followed to avoid waste and secure our individual families from financial bondage–concomitantly preserving individual liberty and fostering national tranquility.

Principle 11: [ Educated ] An American is a dedicated student of both secular and spiritual subjects in a constant search for truth. As a people, we aspire to be educated in all fields of study and value the blessings of knowledge as we increase in capacity and prosperity. A true American is well-read; an adept student of principled scientific, business and government practices. Through sincere study, an American appropriately uses knowledge to preserve the nation against tyranny in all its variant forms. Moreover, attainment of knowledge is never to be used for self-satisfaction or to the detriment of another human being.

Principle 12: [ Orderly ] An American desires order in every aspect of life. We acknowledge liberty-respecting government is subject to orderliness within our individual homes. Through the principle of self-discipline the foundation of limited federal authority is laid firmly in the “Free Consent of the People.” Accordingly, citizens have a sincere responsibility to engage in public service, serve as guardians of the public will, and take a solemn oath to preside over limited government. Thus, our stewardship as citizen is conditional upon our willingness to live and act upon our conscience: being accountable before God for the free exercise thereof.

Principle 13: [ Sovereign ] An American is a model citizen. As sovereign individuals, we dutifully sustain the tenant of The unanimous Declaration of Independence, that is: Laws of Nature and Nature’s God stand as the central pillar of constitutional governance, personal sovereignty being the only defense to secure individual liberty. For this reason, true Americans pledge to preserve citizen authority at all costs declaring self-governance as the keystone of abiding freedom; an indisputable unalienable right. This sacred principle can never be deferred nor compromised in the realization of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
